BRITISH RIFLE REGIMENT DRILL
British rifle regiment drill movements using the Short Magazine Lee Enfield or No 4 Enfield.
On the command "To your front"
The riflemen will brace, they will be standing at "ease" prior to the command
On the command "Section",platoon, etc
The riflemen will come to attention.
On the command "Present Arms".
The rifle is brought to the side using the right hand, the left hand seizing the rifle above the magazine.
The rifle is then moved across the body, magazine to the left, the right hand seizing the shoulder of the butt, the left wrist resting on the magazine, fingers pointing upwards towards the middle sling swivel.
The rifle is then brought down making sure, the right arm is straight, the left hand is just above the magazine, thumb pointing towards the middle sling swivel.
The rifle is held away from the body, making sure it is level with the buttons on the tunic.
On the command "Order Arms"
The rifle is thrown across the body to the right, the butt returned quietly to the ground.
On the command "Shoulder Arms"
The rifle is brought to the side using the right hand, the index finger and thumb around the trigger guard, the remaining fingers around the magazine.
On the command "Officer on Parade"
The riflemen turn to the right.
On the command "Dismiss"
The riflemen tap the rifle sling and march off.
On the command "Trail Arms"
The rifle is seized with the left hand between the magazine and middle sling swivel.
The right arm is canted slightly to the rear, the hand seizing the rifle above the magazine.
The right arm is then straightened
On the command " Advance at the Trail " (not illustrated).
The riflemen will be at ease at the order.
The riflemen will come to the attention.
The riflemen will march off flicking the rifle forward, at the same time taking a stride with the left foot,a seizing the rifle at the point of balance between the breech and the back sight.
Swords will not be fixed.
Rifle slings will be slack
